Archive for August 2008

5 more days i will fly to KL to start my “New” life, the life not longer a life in University but office. My heart feel confusing now, I in the middle of leaving or not leaving mood. I wish I can go out off Kuching to work and gain some experience but in other way, I miss my family, friends and life here, the life in Kuching is very relaxing compare with KL. With my new job, i only have 14 days leaves in a year and i can’t go back so offen not like the time i was in University. But, these the path i choose…

11 August 2008 is a special day for me. It is my graduation day! finally I graduated after 5 years studying in MMU. Time really flies, I still remember when I was in Alpha year my feeling was “Har? 5 years to complete my degree?” It seems like just happened yesterday. I really wanted to thank my family keep supporting me all the while especially the time I feel emotional.

By waiting for my convocation arrive, I trying to find some part time job to earn some extra income. I went to interview as a waitress in a cafe called “Bombastic”, teacher in St. Paul and promoter for Kuching Festival. At first, I am thinking to make myself busy. I wanted to know how much I can handle. Unfortunately, it doesn’t goes what i had plan, I feel tired and stress when I work twice a day so I have to quick the job as a waitress in “Bombastic” and teacher in St. Paul.

Actually I quite enjoying doing the job which aren’t connected with the course i study, feel relaxing, enjoying and didn’t have any tension. So, now I only work as a promoter in Kuching Festival and will work till 24 of this month, after that will work as a designer in a property company by next month. Gambateh….

Have your guys experienced to have barbecue when there’s only 4 person? i experienced this today. Barbecue with another 3 of my best friends. Overall, it is a good experience yet we no need to worry food which might cannot be finish. Apparently, we had finished 20 pieces of chicken wing, 2 package of sausage, 3KG of crab and 1 bowl of turtle, all finished by 4 of us. Can u believe that? he he he…

Currently i was looking for job in Kuching. After been through the interviews i just realise that the market of needed a designer in Kuching is very very lack. Is hardly to find the designer post offered, kind a searching the newspaper for few weeks and I only see 3 company offered the post and those companies are not really doing advertising, website, 3D they are more on printing and layout design. Totally not the things I had learn.

After go through the interviews, apparently most of the companies are looking for the graphic designer than a multimedia designer and the salary they offered are RM800 to RM1000, even lower than a fresher just finish their form 5. It disappointed me although i knew that the amount of the salary are base on the experience. I’m thinking of why am I studying in MMU for 5 years? what’s the degree for? I can’t even get a good job here. I had rejected by the companies that i went for interview, most of them said they prefer to hire graphic designer more than multimedia designer and they prefer look for experience worker.

It had been a month after I graduate, I remembered my last paper was on 22 of May and I had my holiday for a month feel so bored after resting for so many weeks. Finally, I saw someone post an advertisement in the newspaper, they were looking for graphic designer so I decided to have a try. When I reach there, they gave me a form and ask me to fill up my personal detail and ask me to pass it back by this week with my resume and portfolio. Unfortunately, I haven’t prepare all the document that they ask me to hang up, so I need to finish it by this week.

For my experience (after so many weeks of searching a designer post in Kuching), I feel like the demanding of designer in Kuching is very very bad, they prefer to hire accountant, marketing executive and course that connected with management. sigh.

Just cut my hair recently and it even shorter than last time. He he. Why I cut my hair till so short? So simple, because I wanted to change my hair style, that’s all. But most of my friend said the hair style wasn’t suit me, so sad.

If you had read my previous blog, you will know that my mum is in KL right now and today is her fifth day in KL. It’s very enjoy hanging out with her but very tiring cause she’s like shopping and she will enter all the shop in the shopping mall but only for clothes. Actually i don’t know where to bring my mum to what i can do is just accompany her to go everywhere she wanted to go. These few days, we were staying in my cousin’s house and we will be going back to my house, Serdang tomorrow cause its more easier for me to send my mum to the airport on saturday. Here are the schedule we were going these days.

Day 1
Shopping at Jusco Equine park and picking my mum at the LCCT. She brought a lots of things there, a pair of Crocodile sandal and a branded handbag and she was very satisfy for it. After shopping we had our lunch at “Wong Kok Char Chang Ting” and we ordered a plant of Hawaii Chicken with rice and it come together with fruits, soup and drinks. At night, we were going to meet my aunt in Damansara and auntie Eng Eng bring us to eat hokkien noodles somewhere near their house.

Day 2
Shopping at 1 Utama, we reached there at 10 in the morning and reached home at 10 night. Cool isn’t? shopping for 12 hours non stop and the result is my feet hurts cause of my new shoes. For our lunch, we settle it in the japanese restaurant and i can’t remember what the shop called. We had a wonderful lunch there, we had our appetizer, main course and dessert. he he he… ( sure put on weight these few day, sighs). For our dinner, Lydia and her husband bring us to Marche at the curve, the restaurant is very special i mean the way we order the food. The concept of the restaurant is, we will given a card when the time we enter the restaurant for us to order the food. Inside the restaurant, there’s a lots of stall with different categories. So, whatever we wanted to order the food at that particular stall just give them the card then they will chop on it and we will pay according to the kind of chop in the card.

Day 3
On the third day, we went to IKEA. This was my first time been there although i stay in KL for 5 years. As what i heard from others, the design of the furniture are awesome and we like it very much. Luckily my mum can’t bring back the furniture else sure we will buy a lots.

Day 4
Day in Central Market, for me I feel nothing special it just like our Kuching’s India Street. The goods selling there are quite similar but some items really cost cheap especially the shop who doing whole sell. That day wasn’t my day, being complain by one of the vietnamese saying that my cantonese pronunciation were bad, what a bad day.

Day 5
The day me and my mum leave aunt Eng Eng’s house, we were going back to the house that i rent in Serdang and it also another shopping day in Mines. Honestly, i tiring to shop for so many days and we go there in the afternoon and back to my house at 10pm, so so so tiring. That night both of us slept early, unfortunately someone came to visit us and it disturb our night, that’s Mr “Xiao Qiang” (cockroach).

Day 6
Last day, my mum in KL. After branch, i sent my mum to the airport.
